Workload: Art & Graphics by Mander

For nearly three decades, Martin “Mander” Ander has been one of Sweden’s most prolific and uncompromising illustrators. His images have lived fast lives, on posters, skateboards, album covers, clothing, buses, magazines and museum walls. Appearing everywhere and then disappearing. Workload gathers them before they vanish.

Fueled by graffiti, punk, and skateboard culture, Mander moves effortlessly between fine art, comics, and commercial illustration, without ever diluting his voice. His work is instantly recognizable: architectural compositions of letters and symbols, populated by monsters, slackers, skeletons, and psychedelic detours, where humor and darkness coexist in uneasy balance.

Workload is an explosion of color and form. Showcasing a selection of Mander’s work from 2018 to 2026. It picks up where the sold-out OUFF! Mander Selected Works left off. During this period, Mander’s integrity, craftsmanship, and visual precision have made him a sought-after collaborator across art, music, and fashion. His work includes signature collections with Fjällräven and RVCA, and commissions for artists and bands such as Pearl Jam, Pixies, Blink-182, The Offspring, Danko Jones, José González, and The Cure.

Martin “Mander” Ander (b. 1976) is a Swedish illustrator, artist, and graphic designer working across skateboard, fashion, and music-related visual culture. His work has been presented in several solo museum exhibitions in Sweden and has been included in international group exhibitions in countries such as France, Spain, Scotland, and the United States (including Los Angeles, New York, and Honolulu). He has also participated in mural painting festivals in France and Denmark.

Ika Johannesson has worked as a journalist covering arts and culture for nearly 30 years in print, radio, and television. Her focus is on popular culture, particularly alternative and underground scenes. She co-founded and ran the interview magazine Sex and the reportage magazine Filter. Since 2013 she has been one of the presenting profiles at SVT Kultur, working on programs such as Kulturnyheterna.

She is the author of several non-fiction books, including Blod Eld Död – A Swedish Metal History, and has also made documentary films. In recent years she has curated two major exhibitions on Swedish extreme metal in Berlin and Stockholm.
